Capoliveri is a delicious small town, situated on a hill with a beautiful view on the sea. Its origin is roman and it seems that its ancient name was "Caput Liberum" (freedom height), to indicate a place full of confined and politically sheltered people. In the XIIth century it was transformed by the Pisans in a fortified castle.

The old town center is characteristic and most pleasant to visit, rich of typical shops, boutiques, wine cellars and small restaurants. Every thursday morning there is the weekly open market: an appointment that we advise you not to lose.

Capoliveri offers, moreover, numerous meeting and entertainment occasions, such as the Fiaccolata and the Festa dell'Uva, that take place every year.
